Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data MATCHER (“Matcher”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Matcher processes personal data in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your email address, legal name, and a verified mobile number when you register.
- Delivery information: recipient name, contact phone, and a Nigerian delivery address (state, city/LGA, street, and optional landmark/instructions).
- Cart and product information: product names, quantities, categories, weights, dimensions, values, retailer, variant/specifications, and product links for the items you submit for comparison.
- Cart screenshots and photos: images you upload or capture for automated extraction.
- Chrome extension capture data: cart and product information captured from supported retailer pages when you explicitly initiate a capture (see Section 5).
- Payment information: subscription and purchase records and provider references. Matcher does not receive or store your full card information. Card processing is handled by Stripe.
- Advocacy information: matter details, evidence files, and contact information you submit for a Matcher Advocacy matter.
- Communications: the content of messages and reports Matcher sends to you, and any correspondence you send to us.
- Technical and usage signals: such as login/signup IP address, device/browser signal, and account status. These are used together to operate and secure the service and (for the free demo) to assess eligibility — never used alone to identify a person.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account and verify your identity.
- Build, extract, confirm, and compare your cart across cargo providers, and deliver your matches and reports.
- Process payments and manage your membership subscription and cart credits.
- Provide Matcher Advocacy as a separate service, where you choose to use it.
- Communicate with you about your account, matches, reports, and matters.
- Secure the service, detect and prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
To determine eligibility for MATCHER's one-time free item analysis, we compare a limited set of signals we already collect — including your account status, the mobile number you enter, a lightweight device/browser signal, your network IP address, and our history of prior free analyses. We evaluate these signals together to help prevent repeated use of the lifetime free demo; no single signal alone determines the outcome. These signals are not used to identify or track you across unrelated services.
3. Website and Account Use
You can browse the public MATCHER website and view service information (including the homepage and Advocacy overview) without creating an account. Creating an account lets you save delivery addresses, run and save cart comparisons, manage a membership subscription, and submit Advocacy matters. Account information is associated with your account and used as described in this Policy.
4. Cart and Product Information
Cart and product information you submit is used to build a consolidated cart dataset, translate it into each cargo provider's required format, and compare providers to produce your match results and reports. To perform the comparison, relevant cart and product data may be shared with the cargo providers being compared. Provider quotes, intake links, and handoff details are returned to you for your independent selection; selecting and paying any provider is your decision and transaction.
5. Chrome Extension Cart Capture
The MATCHER Chrome extension (“Matcher Cart Capture”) helps you send your shopping cart to Matcher for comparison. When you use the extension:
- Explicit capture only. The extension captures cart and product information only when you explicitly initiate a capture (for example, by selecting “Send to Matcher”). It does not capture information automatically or in the background.
- No unrelated browsing monitoring. The extension does not monitor, record, or transmit your browsing activity, search history, or pages you visit that are unrelated to a capture you initiate.
- No sale of captured data. Matcher does not sell captured cart information to third parties.
- Use limited to the service. Captured cart information is used only to provide the MATCHER cart-comparison service — building your cart dataset, comparing cargo providers, and delivering your match results and reports.
After capture, the cart information is handled under the same terms as cart and product information you submit through the website (Section 4).
6. Screenshot and Photo Uploads
You may upload a cart screenshot or photo (or, in the desktop extension path, the extension may fall back to a screenshot you provide) so Matcher can extract the items shown. These images are processed using automated extraction, which may include third-party AI providers, to identify the items in your cart. Ordinary screenshots are deleted after successful extraction or customer confirmation (and no later than 24 hours) unless a documented legal, security, or Advocacy retention reason applies.
7. AI Processing
MATCHER uses automated processing, which may include AI providers, to extract cart and product information from images and links, research per-item logistics details, and help build provider translations and match results. AI processing is used to support the comparison service; AI outputs are treated as supporting information, and where item details cannot be reliably determined, Matcher does not fabricate values. Your confirmed cart information, not raw AI output, is the basis for comparison.
8. Payment Processing Through Stripe
Membership subscription and Advocacy intake payments are processed by Stripe. Matcher receives payment records and references (such as checkout session, subscription, and invoice identifiers) and metadata needed to manage your membership and cart credits. Matcher does not receive or store your full card number. Card data is collected and handled by Stripe under Stripe's terms and privacy policy. Billing-provider entitlement (for example, that a membership is active) is stored platform-neutrally so your access does not depend on a single provider session.
9. Matcher Advocacy (Separate Service)
Matcher Advocacy is a separate, optional service for matters involving your purchases or shipments. Using it is not required to use MATCHER's cart-comparison service, and using cart comparison does not enroll you in Advocacy. If you submit an Advocacy matter, the information and evidence you provide (including any uploaded files) are stored separately and privately, with access restricted to authorized personnel for the matter. An intake deposit is required to open a matter; the deposit terms are presented before submission. Advocacy communications and the WhatsApp consultation you select for your appointment are handled between you and Matcher for that matter.
10. Customer Communications
Matcher sends you service communications — such as match reports, account-related notices, and Advocacy matter updates — to the email or phone number associated with your account or matter. These communications deliver the information you requested; we do not use them to sell your data. Recipients for these messages are determined from your account and matter records, not from arbitrary caller-supplied input.
11. Third-Party Service Providers
To operate MATCHER, we use third-party service providers, including:
- Stripe — payment processing for memberships and Advocacy intake deposits.
- AI providers — automated extraction of cart/product information from images and links, and logistics research support.
- Cargo providers — the shipping/logistics companies compared for your cart, which receive the cart/product data needed to produce a comparison or quote.
- Cloud hosting and platform infrastructure — application hosting, database, authentication, file storage, and email delivery.
These providers process data under their own terms and policies to deliver the service. Relevant cart and product data is shared with a cargo provider only as needed to compare that provider or to hand off a shipment you choose to pursue. Where personal data may be transferred to or processed in the United States or by providers in other jurisdictions, Matcher seeks to handle it in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.
12. No Sale of Personal Data
Matcher does not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not rent or sell your email, phone, address, cart contents, payment records, or Advocacy information. Cart and product information is shared with cargo providers only as needed to provide the comparison service you requested.
13. Security and Data Protection
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including restricting access to customer records to the account owner and to authorized administrators, and keeping API keys, secrets, and credentials server-side so they are not exposed to the browser. Sensitive customer data is protected by access controls. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Data Retention
We retain account, match, and related data for as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. Cart screenshots are handled as described in Section 6. Evidence submitted for an Advocacy matter is retained for as long as needed for the matter and any applicable legal, security, or retention obligation. You can request deletion of your data through your Data Rights (Section 15); some records may be retained where a legal, payment, security, or other documented obligation applies.
15. Your Data Rights and Requests
Registered customers can request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection using the Privacy & Data Rights area inside your MATCHER account. We review and respond to each request in accordance with applicable law. Some records may be retained where a legal, payment, security, or other documented obligation applies. You may also contact hello@matcherng.com to make a privacy request. The Privacy & Data Rights area is a customer-only tool and is separate from this public Privacy Policy.
16. Customers in Nigeria
MATCHER may process personal information relating to customers, recipients, or delivery destinations in Nigeria in order to provide its services. MATCHER seeks to handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements. Depending on how and where information is processed, personal data may be transferred to or processed in the United States or by service providers located in other jurisdictions. Customers may contact hello@matcherng.com regarding access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests.
17. Children
Matcher is not intended for children under 18.
18. Changes to This Policy
Matcher may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the service.
